As mentioned, Search Engine Optimization is the process of making a website more visible on a search engine’s natural search results. But why is SEO important?
In short, websites that get displayed more frequently at or near the top of, say, Google’s search engine search results have a better chance at increasing website traffic as a result of their high display position. Think about it, when you google something, and are looking at the links that are displayed in the search results, is there a better chance that you visit a website displayed on the first page of the search results or the second page? If your answer was the former, then there you go, now you know (that is, if you didn’t already know) why SEO is important. In terms of traffic and impressions, links on the first page of Google’s search results trump those displayed on the second page; those on the second page trump those on the third; and so on.
